Greek guitarist and composer Smaro C. Gregoriadou studied Classical Guitar with Yorgos Kertsopoulos and Music Composition with Yorgos Sioras in Athens. In 1996 she was awarded a Senior Exhibition Scholarship as a postgraduate classical guitar student of Carlos Bonnel at Royal College of Music, London. She also studied architecture in Athens. She followed numerous guitar and composition seminars worldwide, leaded by the most distinguished specialists of our time, such as pianist-conductor George Hadjinikos, his philosophy on music having been for her an inspiration of special importance. Being the recipient of numerous music awards both for composition and guitar interpretation, which allowed her to present her work in Greece, most European countries, Turkey, Canada and USA, Smaro now disposes her artistic potential in solo guitar performance, teaching, music composition and research on musicality of ancient Greek speech and drama, leading diverse artistic activities and conducting workshops worldwide. She has championed first world presentations of “Kertsopoulos Æsthetics” (guitars, strings, acoustic applications of evolved specifications).
