David Watson pursued music in his spare time through University and while in conventional employment (regularly performing 3 or 4 times a week in addition to working full time) until the middle 90's when he took up music as a career. He now divides his time between teaching music and composing.
David has scored for short and feature films, animations, CD ROMs, computer games, and corporate video for major clients. A lot of his work now is for publishers in the USA. Through this connection he wrote music for the new logo for Harpo Productions (Oprah Winfrey's production company) currently airing several times daily throughout America. He also writes music for performance, whether songs for his occasionally-performing band or chamber music.
David's music is stylistically diverse. When asked what kind of music he writes, he usually mentions winning first prize in a national chamber music competition (Trio for Violin, Clarinet and Harp) and 3 years later making runner-up in the UK Songwriting Competition with an R'n'B song (Who Knows?).
In the last few years, he has successfully completed an intensive Film Scoring course with Hummie Mann, the two times Emmy award winning Seattle-based film composer.
David was invited to Los Angeles to give a seminar "Music in Film" at the British Film Festival Los Angeles in 2009.
