Kevin received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Nevada in Las Vegas. While attending UNLV he had the privilege of performing with many ensembles both nationally and internationally, including the President’s Navy Band, the UNLV Wind Orchestra, the Las Vegas Philharmonic, the Las Vegas Brass Band, a tour of both Japan and Europe and a performance at the 1992 inauguration of former President Bill Clinton.
His formal education included instruction on every major brass instrument, specializing in the Euphonium under the instruction of Dr. James Stivers, with additional instrumental instruction from Tad Suzuki, Hokozono and Bobby Scann. His ability to perform well and sight read quickly allowed Kevin to develop the skills to perform worldwide and gain valuable experience in a variety of musical genres. The Euphonium resembles a ¼ size Tuba with its mellow undertones and singing clarity likened to that of the French Horn. A very popular instrument in England, the Euphonium is considered a young member of the Brass family since its birth was relatively recent.
Kevin Ure is the Instructor of The Composers Studio. He has studied with prominent composers and has a Masters of Music in Composition at The University of Arizona
