In 1980 he graduated from a music college in Chernigov city (Ukraine) as a clarinet player.
In 1985 he graduated from Odessa Conservatoire as a clarinet player (Prof. V. Povzun) and he also studied composition in this conservatoire (Prof. A. Krasotov).
From 1985 till 1996 was working in the Main military orchestra of Odessa military district as an arranger and composer. This orchestra was a prize winner of the very last Military Orchestras Competition in USSR in Moscow (1-st prize in 1987).
In 1994 he was a participant of the master class “Komposition fuer Blasorchester” in Germany (Marktoberdorf, Musicacademy), under teaching of English composers Philip Wilby, Prof. Edward Gregson, Adam Gorb.
P. Struck is an author of numerous transcriptions and original scores for symphonic band (more than 250 scores). All the scores were performed by military orchestra during concert trips to Romania, Poland, Germany, Holland and used all the time in concerts. His scores are still being used.
Also scores (transcriptions) were made for symphonic orchestra of Odessa State Opera Theatre and Odessa Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra. P. Struck writes scores of different styles – from D. Frescobaldi and Valente to A. Piazzolla and contemporary aleathoric works for different instrumentations (string quintet and wind octet, symphonic and wind orchestra, different chamber ensembles and so on).
He was working as an arranger and composer in Odessa “Munizipalblasorchester” from 1993 till 1996. Also he successfully organized a concert trip of this orchestra to Holland in 1996.
P. Struck was working as a clarinet player – assistant in Odessa conservatoire between 1981 - 1994 and also was working there from 1999 until 2003 as a teacher and inspector of the student’s symphonic orchestra in conducting department, taught the subject called “Working with orchestra for conductor-student”.
In 2000 together with German conductor Maximilian Maria Jannetti founded a Festival of wind music in Odessa – “Windmusicfest” which exists now.
From 2003 he left Odessa for Moscow (Russia) and his current position is a teacher and conductor of wind and string chamber ensemble in the Central Music School (college) under Moscow P.I. Tchaikovsky State Conservatoire.
The repertoire of these ensembles is exclusive and is made up by Paul Struck. He also writes transcriptions and instrumentations for the State Wind Orchestra of Russia, Orchestra of the Opera theatre under Moscow Conservatoire and several Chamber orchestras in Moscow.
Also he works with London Bach Clarinet Ensemble (England)- the latest premiere was on 1-st of November, 2007 in London with original piece Prelude & Scherzo after W. Byrd theme for clarinet quartet and transcription of Goldberg variations by J.S. Bach.
