Rusconi graduated from Padua Conservatory in Composition, Piano, Choir Conducting and Electronic Music; won several international prizes and was invited in many continental residencies and fellowships. In 1994 he moved to UK, as cultural refugee. In the following years he spent two year in Thailand to support a New Music Academy based around “El Sistema” also teaching in the British International School of Phuket.
Rusconi is a London resident since 2001 and Founder Member and Shortlisted composer of www.soundandmusic.org.
His catalog includes a wide number of acclaimed chamber and ensemble works, that have been played by outstanding performers as Klangforum Wien, Aventure, D. Alberman and R. De Saram, JACK , KAIROS and AMAR String Quartet, Ensemble Aventure, Contrechamps and Insomnio. His works have been performed all over Europe, Russia, South Korea, Canada and USA.
As a composer and educator worked on several EU Cultural and Educational Projects and produced a Unicef CD : “Blue Gold” on the worldwide water shortage issue. In October 2009 “Lo Sguardo di Ecate“ was performed at ISCM World Music Days in Sweden by the Malmo Symphony Orchestra. He has been awarded the 2012 Experimental Studios Freiburg Stipendien by SWR2 .
In 2011he has been awarded several international prizes ; in 2011he received the 3rd Prize at the BBVA Foundation Prize in Spain, where his work has been performed by the Orchestra Nacional de Espagna. Again in 20122 he won the 1st Prize at the ZEITKlang Composition Competition in Wien with De Arte Respirandi performed by KAIROS String Quartet Berlin. He has recently concluded the Project Iter Itineris for Ensemble Aventure (Freiburg) and a new Piano Quintet for Amar String Quartet (Basel) and Benjiamin Engeli that will be premiered at St Luke’s London the 9th of March 2012.
Robert David Rusconi has been chosen to represent United Kingdom at ISCM World music Days 2013 in Wien by Sound and Music British Panel. He is a researcher in Music Cognitivity constantly trying to melt the scientific understanding with the artistic and poetic constructivism. In his last manifesto he underlines that the function of musical art is to enrich mankind, to let man feel less lonely and more integrated in a universe where to be and not to have should become law by rule.
His list of works has many solo duo and trio works as well as didactic studies, written to introduce performers and young players to contemporary techniques. At the moment Robert David Rusconi is curating events at St Luke’s (LSO home) supported by Austrian Cultural Forum, Pro Helvetia, Goethe Institute and other European institutions.
Currently, Rusconi is working towards a PhD in Composition at Kings College London, supervised by George Benjamin.
