Eduardo Moguillansky graduated in Composition and Orchestral Conducting in Buenos Aires. He continued his conducting studies at the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg with Dennis Russell Davies, where he graduated «with distinction». Postgraduate studies in composition followed with Marco Stroppa at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart and with Beat Furrer in Frankfurt. He has taken part in seminars with Brian Ferneyhough (Royaumont), Helmut Lachenmann, Georges Aphergis and Chaya Czernowin.
He obtained numerous awards and scholarships: Impuls Kompositionswettbewerb, Intersonanzen Preis der Stadt Brandemburg, Bärenreiter Kompositionspreis, SWR Orchester-Kompositionspreis, Fux Opera Composition Competition (2011), nomination for the Ernst von Siemens Förderpreis (2011), selection for the Kompositionsseminar der Deutschen Gessellschaft für Neue Musik (Ensemble Modern, 2006) and for the ISCM «World Music Days» 2006, selection for the Gaudeamus Music Week, scholarships from Herrenhaus Edenkoben and the Darmstädter Ferienkurse für Neue Musik, work- scholarships from the Künstlerhof Schreyahn and the Akademie Schloss Solitude, where he currently is fellow.
He has received commissions from, among others, SWR Radio Sinfonie-Orchester Stuttgart, Donaueschinger Musiktage (2008), Klangforum Wien (2007, 2008), Ernst von Siemens Musikstiftung (2009, 2010), Wittener Tage für Neue Kammermusik (2010), MärzMusik (2010), Klangspuren (Schwaz, 2009), Autumn in Warsaw (2008, 2009), Ensemble Ascolta (2008, 2010) and the Darmstädter Ferienkurse für Neue Musik (2006, 2008). Next projects include new commissions for the Weimerer Frühjarstage für Neue Music (Carin Levine, 2012), a music-theater piece for the festival Sommer in Stuttgart (2011), a new ensemble piece for the Donaueschinger Musiktage 2012, a new ensemble piece for Musica Viva (München, 2012), and a new ensemble piece for the Acht Brücken Festival (Köln, 2013).
His compositions have been also programmed in festivals like the Donaueschinger Musiktage, Wien Modern, Time of Music (Finnland), ISCM World Music Days, Darmstädter Ferienkurse für Neue Musik, Gaudeamus Music Week, Summer in Stuttgart, Aspekte (Salzburg) and have been performed by the Radio-Sinfonie-Orchester Stuttgart, Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Modern, Arditti Quartett, Diotima Quartett, Ensemble Mosaik, Ensemble SurPlus, Nouvel Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Aleph, Aeolian Trio (Carin Levine, Peter Veale and Pascal Gallois) and Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain. Among others, Emilio Pomárico, Sylvain Cambreling, Kasper de Roo, Rolf Gupta, Beat Furrer, Enno Poppe and Matthias Pintscher have conducted his works.
His music has been recorded by the Klangforum Wien (NEOS), by Valentin Garvie and the Ensemble Modern (EMCD 09) and by the Ensemble Aleph (CDMC, Paris). In preparation are recordings for labels KAIROS (Klangforum Wien, Sylvain Cambreling) and DUX (Ensemble Kwartludium and Frank Wörner).
He is currently a fellow at the Akademie Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart.
